Making the Move to Spain
Spain is a country of sunshine and welcoming people, full of different customs and images, with a modern and well proven economy and political stability. It sees over 50 million visitors a year, and around 1 million foreigners have homes there. It is estimated that over 500,000 British families own a home in Spain.
Since membership to the Common Market in 1986, interest in investing in a home in Spain has increased, sales have escalated, and likewise the property prices have risen. The Costa Blanca (the White Coast) is located in the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean Coastline. The bustling coastal towns of the Northern Costa Blanca are situated in and around 45kms of Alicante, whereby on the Southern Costa Blanca you can experience the locality of Torrevieja, which is fast becoming one of the most popular towns along the coast. Still a genuine fishing town, Torrevieja bustles all year round and throughout the area you will find good shopping, great seafood, fine restaurants, pretty coves, plenty of golf courses, nightlife and that warm Mediterranean atmosphere.
On the Orihuela Costa just up the road from Torrevieja, you will find a good selection of sandy beaches, marinas, and three excellent 18 hole golf courses. The life style is very simple combining a warm and friendly atmosphere. Although the climate cools in the winter, most days are sunny and bright where you can live your life out of doors.
The Costa Blanca in particular is now considered to be one of the healthiest places in the world to live. An area which is rich in salts and minerals, plenty of sunshine and the great Mediterranean diet.
Saving Money
An excellent way to save money (or make an instant profit) is by buying off plan. This means that when you have seen a property that you like you can reserve it for 24 hours at no cost to yourself. Sleep on it, then revisit the property the following day and watch your dreams start to unfold.
When your decision to buy has been made then you pay the builder a small deposit of £2,000 or £3,000, choose your plot of land and watch your dream home turn into a reality. The builder will draw up a contract of purchase at the price you have reserved your property at.
When you complete on the purchase of your home in 6, 9, 12 or 15 months time any increase in price by the builder during that time will not be passed onto you (i.e. any increase in value is an un-realised profit to you). Straight away your home has saved you money, because the builder froze the price of the property the very minute you reserved it, paid your deposit and went to contract.
